Significance of Ekadashi

Ekadashi is a special day where devotes dedicate the day to praying to Lord Vishnu and seek his blessings. Nathan Kovil Divyadesam Kshetra | Kumbakonam

Nathan Kovil or Thiru Nandipura Vinnagaram (ನಾಥನ್ ಕೋಯಿಲ್/ತಿರುನಂದಿಪುರ ವಿಣ್ಣಗರಂ) is an ancient temple town, in the outskirts of Kumbakonam in Tamil Nadu. It is a Vaishnava Divya Desam Temple dedicated to Lord Srinivasan and Shenbagavalli (Goddess Lakshmi) Thaayar. Naathan Kovil is the 16th Divya Desam of the 108 Divya Desams.

Divya Desam Temples are those Vishnu temples that have been visited and canonised with Tamil hymns by Vaishnava Alwar (Azhwars) saints, between 4^th Century CE and 10^th Century CE. The presiding deity Srinivasa Perumal faces West in this temple. Nathan Kovil was once the capital of the Chola Empire.
