Thirupullani is a place about 11km from Ramanathapuram and about four hours’ ride from International Airport of Thiruchirappally (TRZ). Lord Rama is believed to have done a penance seeking help and support from the King of Seas to reach the demon king Ravan’s Swarnalanka. He lay on a mat of grass known as ‘Kushasana’ in order to please the king of Seas. Adi Jagannatha Swamy temple here is believed to be very ancient. In a separate shrine here, image of Lord Rama has been carve in a reclining position as Darbha-Shayana. Legend has it that, King Dasharatha did Putra-Kameshti here.
